Work Trade: Part-time housekeeping/cleaning in exchange for a seasonal cottage (photos below), available mid-April to late October

Job Purpose: We are looking for a reliable part-time employee to work 20 hours per week in exchange for a fully furnished one-bedroom cottage (no pets allowed). The primary responsibilities of this role include cleaning our yurts, tiny houses, and personal home. Availability to work every Saturday from June 7th through October 19th is required. Additional duties may include basic property maintenance and occasional personal assistant tasks.  The cottage comes fully furnished and includes all utilities.

  • Primary responsibility of this job is cleaning rental units – including but not limited to cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, making beds, restocking, and folding laundry

  • Ensuring all units are cared for and inspected according to industry standards

  • Personal assistant tasks for the owners – basic meal preparation, errands, etc.

  • Light landscaping work – weeding, watering flowers, raking leaves

  • Prepare for Saturday turnover – packing turn over supplies, organizing communal areas, fold and put away laundry, restock cleaning supplies

Job Compensation:

  • The 20 hours of weekly work will exchange evenly for the cottage

  • Any hours above the 20 weekly, will be paid $20/hour, but 20 hours it typically all we need weekly

  • End of season bonus based on performance

Demands of the Job:

  • Must be able to work every Saturday (9:30am-4pm) June 7th – October 19th (6.5 hours)

  • Must be able to work any other day of the week from 9:30am – 12:30pm (to finished the remaining 13.5 hours) – we will provide the schedule monthly, in advance w/ option to make it a set schedule

  • Prolonged periods of standing and working

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times

  • Arrives to work on-time and ready to begin shift

  • Follow instructions timely and efficiently with attention to detail

  • Communicate effectively

  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance

  • Customer-oriented and friendly; ability to work with varying personalities

  • Prioritization and time management skills

  • Reliable transportation – Acadia Yurts is located 1.3 miles from downtown Southwest Harbor on a road without sidewalks

  • Proficiency of English language
